The Internet as a Development Tool

We are continuing with last week’s topic. As the other communities are registering phenomenal results with the internet, Haitians can achieve the same, provided that we learn the right techniques and strategies. Some people are concerned that once the Haitian Diaspora Unity Congress that took place in Miami last week is over, there will not be any activities to ensure that we stay on task. At MyKasika, we propose that we start a conversation about the many uses of the internet. As a matter of fact, we are inviting all of you to a free teleseminar during which you will an opportunity to ask questions about the topics that interest you. The teleseminar is scheduled for Thursday, August 27, at 9 p.m. We’ll provide additional details next week.

Haitian Music Live Tomorrow!

Once again, Lesly Jacques, CEO of Radio Haiti Amerique Internationale, will host a wonderful concert tomorrow, July 25th. This event will provide all of us who appreciate Haitian music with an opportunity to bring more joy into our lives. We’ve created this video to show our support to Radio Haiti Amerique Internationale.

Here we are again! This week, we are proposing that you reflect on how you can contribute to Haiti’s prosperity. A lot of us are tired of hearing, or reading, about Haiti’s poverty. It will take a strong commitment on our part to eradicate the mindset that’s keeping us enslaved. We have to start stretching our muscles and our minds. What will it take for us to act? What will take for you to act. Think about it…

Celebrating One of Haiti’s Finest Bands

In 1976, despite many obstacles, two brothers – Andre(Dadou) and Claude(Tico) Pasquet-, accompanied by a few friends, released Magnum Band to the world on June 24th. Thirty-three (33) years later, they are still busy producing some of the best material that can enhance Haiti’s visibility in the music world.
Magnum Band is the epitome of perseverance and patience. Some of their texts reflect just that.
We thank all the members of Magnum, current and former, for the wonderful gift. We encourage Magnum Band to “kenbe la” and to continue to caress our ears with their delightful sound.
