Despite the difficult situation in Haiti these days, we must do our best to support the mothers who will, according to tradition, make an effort to celebrate this Sunday.

In addition to providing financial support to the best of our ability, we must continue to pray for a brighter tomorrow for our sisters, mothers, cousins, nieces, etc.

As Haitian mothers face this upcoming Mother’s Day with uncertainty, let us keep them in our prayers.  We need to keep sending strength to our compatriots.

I suppose that we can reflect on the first question over  the weekend.  Of course, the second question applies if we have taken no action thus far.  “Pale bel franse” is not enough; we can do more.  If we want Haiti to rise again, we should do more.

It is time for us to change our vocabulary; our thoughts will bring into our lives more helplessness and more disorientation.  What we need to do now is clear:  we have to keep sending loving thoughts to our brothers and sisters. Some may see that it is naive; maybe it is. What I know for sure is that we have to help our compatriots to stand tall again.  As thirst and hunger take a toll on their bodies, we have to ensure that their spirit remain unbroken, as resilient as the world knows it to be.

Our brothers and sisters need strength now; they need to feel their spirit vibrant, re-energized.  Our task is to send them positive, encouraging thoughts.  God will take care of the rest.

In the case of Haiti, it is obvious that a great number of us are truly devoted to its development. We seem to forget, however, that, collectively, we are Haiti.  To a certain extent, what will happen in Haiti this year will be a direct result of our collective actions.  There is no doubt that miracles are still possible in the 21st century, but we need to starting working, and praying, for a change in Haiti.

Our beloved country is poised for a wonderful renewal; are you ready to work toward it?  Your contribution will be invaluable.
